New features will be added to the instant messaging platform with the upcoming updates.
According to the report, work is currently underway on this feature.
New Delhi. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg earlier this month announced the rollout of three new privacy features for WhatsApp. One of these features is View Once, which will block screenshots on photos. These new features will be added to the meta-owned instant messaging platform with upcoming updates. Screenshot blocking, a technique will be used in the feature, which prevents the user from taking screenshots of photos and videos.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, the company has recently released WhatsApp beta for Android 184.108.40.206 update. It has added an app icon for all testers on Android 13. The report states that the company is also working on screenshot blocking for WhatsApp View.
Working on feature
This feature is currently in the development phase for WhatsApp beta for Android users. And it will be rolled out with the upcoming updates of the app. WABetaInfo has shared a screenshot giving information about this feature. According to the screenshot, when a user uses the ‘view once’ feature, WhatsApp will show a pop-up saying that you cannot forward, copy or save it, nor take a screenshot of it.
How will this feature work
The screenshots reveal that WhatsApp is working on a new presentation screen for View-Once files, where it will be impossible for users to take screenshots of pictures and videos. Although the recipients can always take a photo using a secondary phone or camera, the platform will not allow them to take screenshots of the same. Screenshots will be done automatically on the app but the sender will not get any notification about it.
