JioCinema Premium now offers monthly subscriptions in India. Owned by Viacom18, the platform provides streaming of movies and TV series, including content from HBO, Paramount, Peacock, and Warner Bros. Users can download content for offline viewing at 4K resolution without ads. The Standard plan allows streaming on one screen at a time, while the Family plan extends this limit to 4 devices.
According to the subscription page on the JioCinema website, the premium plan costs Rs 29 per month for access to one screen, while the 4-screen ‘Family’ subscription is priced at Rs 89. It’s worth noting that there’s a special introductory price for both plans: the personal plan is priced at Rs 59, and the family plan is priced at Rs 149.
Previously, JioCinema Premium was available as an annual subscription priced at Rs 999, but it’s no longer listed on the streaming service’s website. Customers now have to opt for the monthly plan. With the current introductory price, the effective cost of the personal JioCinema premium plan is Rs 348, significantly lower than the old plan. Meanwhile, the effective cost of the family plan is Rs 1,068 for one year.
At current prices, JioCinema is cheaper than Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, and Amazon Prime Video. The cheapest Netflix plan in India costs Rs 149 per month, while Disney+ Hotstar and Amazon Prime Video both cost Rs 299 per month. The JioCinema website states that both the Personal and Family plans offer ad-free streaming, except for live and sports content, including the IPL cricket tournament. Sports content will continue to be accessible for free, with ads also being displayed for customers opting for one of the JioCinema premium plans.
