In the latest update to Windows 11 for members of the Insider Program, Microsoft has added a feature to automatically adjust the screen brightness on laptops and PCs. This update is available in Preview Build 23424 and is intended to improve performance under different lighting levels.
The novelty allows you to adapt the screen brightness depending on the content, and not using sensors, as is implemented on mobile devices. To be more precise, when you launch File Explorer with a dark theme and a browser with a white background, the system will reduce the brightness to reduce the strain on the user’s eyes.
In addition, laptops will be able to choose to turn on reduced brightness only when running on battery power.
Note that Windows 10 and 11 already have a Night Light mode that reduces blue light on the screen. It can be enabled manually or automatically depending on the user’s location.
It is not yet reported when the new feature will appear in the release.
