McDonald’s: A McDonald’s outlet in London has been fined nearly Rs 5 crore for serving substandard food. The crackdown came after customers who ate cheeseburgers found rat feces inside their burgers.
According to Waltham Forest Council, when the customer ate the burger on the base itself. Then the customer was shown rat excrement. This complaint was lodged in the year 2021. When environmental health officials visited the restaurant. When those officers saw this glut of rats.
The authorities observed a condition in the premises which was highly injurious to the health of the customers. At the conclusion of the authorities, rat rot and numerous rat faeces were found throughout the premises.
During the inspection many areas of the kitchen where dust and dirt and smooth spots were found. which was exposed.
Environmental health officers from Waltham Forest Council detected an out-of-control infestation at the restaurant. Which was a risk to public health.
It has been inspected. After this the restaurant was closed within 10 days. Re-opened only after the health condition is approved by the council.
Sharing a picture of the restaurant on behalf of Waltham Forest Council on Twitter, it said that a fine of around Rs 5 crore has been imposed on the fast food chain.
A press note from Waltham Forest Council’s cabinet member for community safety said: “We are very grateful to the customer for their quick thinking in reporting this matter to the council for investigation.”
It has been further submitted on their part that McDonald’s is a large and experienced food business operator in the fast food sector. For this reason the risk presented in the Land Stone Store was necessary.
It is argued that McDonald’s pleaded guilty in the first instance and admitted his wrongdoing. He added that however as a council we take food safety very seriously and will not hesitate in the slightest to follow up on complaints.
