BYD has never had such a cheap plug-in hybrid. The company has introduced the 2023 Qin Plus DM-i Champion Edition to the home market in China, and it is the first model under 100,000 yuan with a DM-i hybrid powertrain. True, we are talking, of course, about the basic version – they ask for 99,800 yuan (14,600 dollars) for it, but the price of the top version reaches 145,800 yuan (21,400 dollars).


The letters DM stand for Dual Motor, and the letter i (from the English Intelligent) indicates that this is a rechargeable hybrid. The 2023 Qin Plus DM-i Champion Edition comes with two traction batteries that provide a pure electric range of 55 or 120 km (according to NEDC methodology). The capacity of the traction battery, respectively, is 8.32 kWh and 18.32 kWh.
Sedan dimensions are 4765 x 1837 x 1495 mm, wheelbase length – 2718 mm. The interior in the top version is combined, with brown or blue accents. The basic version has an 8.8-inch screen in front of the driver and a 10-inch one on the front panel.


In the top version, a 12.8-inch display is installed in the center of the front panel. Also among the options are adaptive cruise control, emergency braking system, media system with 8 speakers, smart key.


The power plant of the car includes a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 110 hp. and one 180 hp electric motor. (with basic traction battery) or 197 hp (with a larger capacity traction battery). The declared maximum power reserve is 1245 km, consumption is 3.8 liters per 100 km. The top version of the sedan accelerates to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds.
