UK to jail website owners for failing to implement pedophile protection for children And not only

The UK government began work on proposed laws last May to impose on social media a duty to protect their users from dangerous content such as online misinformation and harassment.

Under the proposed bill, company or website executives could face prosecution and/or imprisonment if they fail to cooperate with Ofcom, the UK communications regulator.

The bill would also require social media, search engines, and websites that allow people to post their own content, take various measures to protect children, combat illegal activities, and comply with stated terms and conditions.

For example, mandatory age verification for sites with pornography or the introduction of liability for cyberflashing, as well as the requirement for major social networks to block people who have not verified their identity on these platforms.
