Phison Electronics presented at CES 2022 E26 controller, preliminary information which appeared the day before. Thanks to this, technical details became known.
The PS5026-E26 controller is Phison’s first PCIe 5.0 x4 SSD controller. It complies with PCI Express Base Specification Revision 5.0 and NVMe 2.0. The 12nm TSMC controller is configured with two ARM Cortex-R5 cores and three proprietary CoXProcessor cores. The controller supports up to 8 channels with 32 memory chips. The transfer rate reaches 2400 MT / s. Supports 3D TLC and QLC NAND flash memory. The storage capacity can be up to 32 TB. The controller complies with the Toggle 5.0 and ONFi 5.0 specifications. Flash I / O circuits are rated for 1.2 V. The onboard 32-bit DRAM controller supports DDR4 and LPDDR4 memory operating at 3200 Mbps.
Data integrity is ensured by LDPC ECC, RAID ECC and DDR ECC mechanisms, as well as end-to-end protection of the entire data path. The controller supports 256-bit AES, 512-bit SHA, 4096-bit RSA, TGG Opal 2.0 compliant.
According to Phison, the controller achieves sequential read speeds of up to 12 GB / s and sequential write speeds of up to 11 GB / s, and performance on random access operations reaches 1.5 million IOPS in read mode and 2.0 million IOPS in write mode. …
For the controller, a 16 x 16 mm FCCSP package with 576 ball leads was selected. A thermal sensor is integrated into the controller.
