While there are many arthouse games available today, only a few manage to capture the public’s attention. One such title is Pathologic 3, the highly anticipated sequel to the cult classic adventure drama Pathologic. Developed by Ice-Pick Lodge, the game continues to generate buzz despite the studio’s recent challenges. The team remains dedicated to the project and has shared exciting updates through their latest development diary.
The second installment of the developer diaries for Pathologic 3 is now available online. This edition focuses entirely on gameplay features, which have undergone significant changes since the previous entries.
For those unfamiliar, Pathologic 3 revisits the story of the Bachelor, Daniil Dankovsky, who arrives in a mysterious town to study a deadly virus. Players will take on the role of Dankovsky, tasked with examining patients, identifying symptoms, and racing against time to develop a vaccine to stop the epidemic. The virus behaves unpredictably—some patients succumb within hours of infection, while others manage to survive longer.
However, the protagonist’s challenges extend beyond the plague itself. The townspeople are deeply distrustful, particularly of outsiders, and Dankovsky quickly finds himself entangled in a web of intrigue, deception, and half-truths. Will he survive this perilous mission, or will the town’s secrets consume him?
Pathologic 3 is slated for release in 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. Fans of the series and newcomers alike can look forward to a gripping narrative and immersive gameplay experience.
