A battle has started on the road on the Waqf Bill. The second phase of the budget session of Parliament is going on and next week the Waqf Amendment Bill can be introduced in the House. The bill was produced in the Lok Sabha on 8 August 2024, but after the uproar, the bill was sent to JPC. But now the government can bring this bill to the Lok Sabha anytime. This bill is angry with Muslim organizations to opposition parties. They allege that the government wants to capture Waqf’s properties through the bill. Opposition with All India Muslim Personal Law Board is seen standing firmly. So that the Modi government can be surrounded.
At the same time, AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi has warned Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu, important colleagues in the central government on the pretext of this bill, that if they support the Waqf Bill, as long as the world is there, the Muslims of India will remember this. On the other hand, JPC President Jagdambika Pal has said that this is just political opposition. The bill has not yet come, but the opposition has started protesting.
Opposition performance at Jantar Mantar
Explain that the Waqf Board in the country has assets of more than 9 lakh acres and the other surprising fact is that after railway and defense, the Waqf Board has the highest assets in the country. At present, a political struggle has started from the House to the road on the Waqf Bill. Today, All India Muslim Personal Law Board demonstrated at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, in which Asaduddin Owaisi along with Samajwadi Party and many Muslim MPs of Congress also attended. But the special thing is that Hinduist organizations also demonstrated in support of the Waqf Amendment Bill.
War on Waqf Amendment Bill
Now the war on the Waqf Amendment Bill in the BJP and the opposition has intensified. On the one hand, Asaduddin Owaisi described this bill as anarchy. At the same time, against the Waqf Bill, the Samajwadi Party warned it to agitate from Parliament to the road and termed it against the Muslims. The opposition, adding tone to the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, is saying that there is a conspiracy to capture the property of Waqf in the name of Waqf’s safety and transparency. However, the BJP is saying that the law is made in Parliament and not at Jantar Mantar. The BJP is also saying that the opposition should not remain in the mood that under the guise of the demonstration, the second Shaheen will erect the garden. So the Congress is saying that its constitutional rights will not be killed.
What is the reason for the dispute?
Now understand the reason for the controversy. Waqf means any movable or real estate, which anyone who believes in Islam can donate for religious works. No owner of this donated property is… that’s why Islam considers Allah the owner of this property… but, institutions like Waqf Board have been set up to operate this property. However, on the Waqf Amendment Bill, the battle of appeasement versus satisfaction between the BJP and the opposition is intensifying.
Objections of Muslim organizations and opposition regarding Waqf Bill
– You can now go against the High Court against any Waqf’s property dispute. However, the decision of the first Waqf Tribunal was considered to be the last.
Now without donating, Waqf cannot assert its authority over any property, but earlier with the claim, any property was the right to Waqf.
– Waqf Board should have two members from women and other religions. But earlier there were no members of women and other religions in the board.
– Collector will be able to survey the property of Waqf and has been given the right to determine the property.
