There has been a violent clash between two groups in West Bengal. According to the police, on Friday afternoon, there was a fight between two groups in Saithia in Birbhum due to a verbal dispute. People of a group were allegedly drunk, causing dispute. There was a scuffle in both groups and stoned on each other.
Seeing the situation deteriorating, the police force was sent on the spot. According to the police, there is no news of arson and more than 20 people have been detained. Internet service has been suspended in Sainthia city and five gram panchayats and its surrounding areas to prevent fake information from spreading.

This shutdown will be effective from 14 March (Friday) to 17 March (Monday). The Principal Secretary of the Department of Home and Hill Affairs, Government of West Bengal has cited “rumors for illegal activities” behind suspension of internet and call services. The order further states that no restriction is being imposed on voice calls or SMS. Similarly, no restrictions have been imposed on newspapers. The ban has been imposed in Sainthia, Hatora Gram Panchayat (GP), Mathpalsa GP, Harisara GP, Dariyapur GP and Phulur GP.
