You have also received such a message on WhatsApp, so be careful, your bank account may be empty!

WhatsApp is a very useful app for us, and it makes many types of our work, small and big, easy. This is the reason why fraudsters keep taking advantage of this thing. Meanwhile, a similar case has come to the fore again, in which personal information of users is being stolen through WhatsApp scam. According to a report by WABetaInfo, fraudsters can access a user’s personal and financial information, including bank and card details, by using a fake support account. These fake accounts have been created to get the information of the users. Although it is not known when this scam was first reported, one of these fake accounts was reached by Discord user Shimon128.

Cheater first creates Fake WhatsApp. The support account looks exactly like the original account. The account looks authentic and affixes a real looking profile picture with its fraudster verified badge.

According to the report, these fake accounts try to extract some personal information from you by warning you of the closure of your WhatsApp account. For example, these accounts will ask for your bank card details to avoid termination of your WhatsApp account, and sometimes even ask for your 6-digit PIN to access your WhatsApp account.

How to protect yourself from fake WhatsApp support account scam-
First of all, know that WhatsApp never asks the user for bank details, 6 digit PIN by asking for account termination, and if someone is trying to extract any information from WhatsApp, then you should know that This is a fake account.

You should also note that the verified badge on the original WhatsApp support account is placed next to the account name and not the profile picture.

If you ever receive a message from a fake WhatsApp support account, you should immediately report it by going to the chat info section. The last 5 messages in the chat will be shared with the WhatsApp moderation team who will suspend the account depending on the context of the conversation.
