The press service of the Moscow Automobile Plant denied yesterday’s rumors that Iranian cars will allegedly be assembled at the Moskvich plant.
“The press service of Moskvich does not confirm the agreement with the Iranian manufacturer on the assembly of Moskvich cars at the Moscow Automobile Plant. Our technical partner is Kamaz PJSC, with which a cooperation agreement was signed last week»a spokesperson for the company said.
In July, the Moscow government and Kamaz entered into an agreement on cooperation in the development of passenger cars. As part of the agreement, Moskvich plans to develop its own platform for electric vehicles. Until the end of 2022, about 600 cars will be produced, 200 of them will be equipped with electric motors.
This statement by “Moskvich” is even more convincing that the plant will launch the production of JAC cars – Chinese partner of KamAZ. Five models will be produced under the Moskvich brand: four crossovers and a sedan.
