Xiaomi revived the innovative Xiaomi Mix series of flagships last year with the launch of the Xiaomi Mix 4, the brand’s first smartphone with a front-facing camera “hidden” under the screen. Now the next generation is rumored to be preparing – Xiaomi Mix 5 and Xiaomi Mix 5 Pro.
The next details were shared by the thematic resource Xiaomiui, which regularly uploads subsequently confirmed information about both the MIUI shell and the upcoming new smartphones Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco.
According to the source, Xiaomi is using the new Surge C2 image processor in the next Xiaomi Mix – which will be the successor to the Surge C1, which debuted last year in the Xiaomi Mix Fold.
The main differences between Xiaomi Mix 5 and Xiaomi Mix 5 Pro will be cameras and image processor. It is noted that the Surge C2 will only be integrated into the older model, the Xiaomi Mix 5 Pro. The mentions of the features of the proprietary Surge processor were found by enthusiasts in the firmware related to the Xiaomi Mix 5 Pro.
As for the cameras themselves, the front camera, hidden under the screen, in Xiaomi Mix 5 and Xiaomi Mix 5 Pro will reach a new level – its resolution will be 48 megapixels instead of the previous 20 megapixels.
The main camera Xiaomi Mix 5 will receive a 50 MP main module with optical image stabilization, a 48 MP telephoto module that provides 2x optical zoom, and a 48 MP ultra-wide-angle module with 0.6x zoom.
The Xiaomi Mix 5 Pro main module will be the same, the telephoto module will receive optical stabilization and 5x optical zoom, and the ultra wide-angle one – 0.5x zoom.
The Xiaomi Mix 5 series is expected to go on sale in the second quarter of 2022. It is also noted that the Xiaomi Mix 5 series will remain exclusive to China.
