Xiaomi fined for cheating in smartphone advertising

The company was fined by the Beijing Market Surveillance Bureau. Xiaomi was accused of violating the Advertising Law. Last year, the company posted an advertising banner for the Redmi K30 5G smartphone on the Tmall website. So it was indicated that the smartphone has a Samsung AMOLED display. In fact, the unit came with an LCD panel.

Xiaomi paid 3,000 euros for this. However, it is assumed that the company did not deliberately cheat people. Perhaps the person who created the poster was simply mistaken. The substitution would be too obvious. Besides, Xiaomi is a large company that should value its reputation. However, the fine was still symbolic.
