Xiaomi is reportedly planning a major update to its next flagship number series. While the previous Xiaomi 14 and 15 series included three models—standard, Pro, and Ultra—the upcoming Xiaomi 16 series may introduce a fourth variant. According to a report by Gizmochina, the company could launch a new compact model named Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini. The full series is expected to arrive by the end of September.

Display:
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the Xiaomi 16 Pro will be available in two display sizes. The Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini is expected to feature a 6.3-inch screen, while the regular 16 Pro may come with a 6.8-inch display. The standard Xiaomi 16 is also likely to have a 6.3-inch screen, offering a compact option in the premium category.
Camera:
The Xiaomi 16 series may introduce a new “Big Matrix” horizontal camera layout, occupying nearly one-third of the back panel. This design appears similar to the leaked camera layout of the upcoming iPhone 17. Leaked images of the lens protector suggest a cutout for a periscope telephoto lens, enhancing zoom photography capabilities.
Processor and Performance:
The biggest upgrade in the Xiaomi 16 series could be its processor. The devices are expected to feature Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 or Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipsets. These chips are based on TSMC’s advanced 3nm process and may include the second-generation Oryon CPU architecture. Reports indicate a 16MB GPU cache and an estimated Geekbench 6 score of over 4000 (single-core) and 11,000+ (multi-core).
Additionally, the Xiaomi 16 Ultra is also expected to join the lineup, with some reports referring to it as the Xiaomi 16 Pro Max. Leaks suggest it may include a secondary display on the back. More details about the entire Xiaomi 16 series are expected to surface in the coming weeks.
