After the announcement of UFS 4.0 flash memory in May this year Today, August 3, Samsung announced that the new UFS 4.0 flash memory will go into mass production this month.

Samsung has said that UFS 4.0 will be used in flagship smartphones, enabling faster data transfer rates for high-resolution imaging and heavy gaming. In the future, UFS 4.0 will be used in more mobile, virtual and augmented reality devices.

Samsung will introduce Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Filp 4 foldable smartphones on August 10th. However, the description of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 single-chip system does not mention support for UFS 4.0.

It is believed that the first smartphone with UFS 4.0 flash memory will have to wait until November. Then Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Xiaomi 13 will be introduced. Later, such memory will be used in the Samsung Galaxy S23 line.

The continuous read speed of such memory can reach 4200 MB/s, and the continuous write speed – 2800 MB/s. Samsung also talks about a significant improvement in energy efficiency, reduced size and capacity of a single module up to 1 TB.
