The current Xiaomi flagship has been in the hands of experts from the DxOMark laboratory, the camera of which has undergone rigorous testing. The gadget was tested in a variety of shooting conditions, compared with the capabilities of devices from other brands. The final score was high – but did not allow Xiaomi 12 Pro to enter the top ten.
The smartphone is equipped with a camera with three 50-megapixel modules: main (1 / 1.28″, f / 1.9, PDAF, OIS), wide-angle (f / 2.2), and telephoto (f / 1.9). Xiaomi 12 Pro is also capable of recording videos in 8K @ 24 fps and 4K @ 60 fps.
The list of strengths of the rear module of the smartphone included good photo detail in most scenarios, good exposure in low light, as well as fast and stable autofocus. In addition, the experts noted such features of the camera as a generally low level of digital noise, a large field of view “wide” while maintaining detail, and a wide dynamic range for night shooting.
In the list of shortcomings, experts included such features of the module as the appearance of ghosting and noise in high-contrast scenes, slightly limited depth of field and loss of detail in very low light, as well as when shooting with a telephoto lens at medium and long distances. In addition, the dynamic range and bokeh effect in the preview differed from those in the resulting image.
As a result of testing, the smartphone scored 131 points on the DxOMark scale, taking 14th place in the overall rating of camera phones tested in the laboratory. The line above is HUAWEI P40 Pro, and the leadership is still held by Honor Magic4 Ultimate, the result of which is 146 points.
