The Pentonic 2000 is said to be the world’s first commercial TV chip using TSMC’s 7nm process technology. This technology brings new levels of productivity and efficiency. The processor not only supports 8K 120Hz displays, but also 144Hz gaming PCs and the latest consoles.
In addition, there is support for MEMC technology, which intelligently scales low-resolution content and also improves quality in real time. Intelligent View is also supported, which allows multiple picture-in-picture (PiP) screens.
MediaTek claims the new platform is equipped with the fastest CPUs and GPUs in the television industry. The chip can be paired with 6E or 5G Wi-Fi modems to provide fast wireless internet for 8K streaming.
Pentonic 2000 TVs will begin shipping worldwide in 2022.
