Will Mahindra beat Tata in the race for electric SUV? this is preparation

Looking at the future of the electric vehicle market, many companies are preparing themselves for this segment. There are also many startups, who are gearing up to challenge the traditional automobile companies. Talking about electric cars, Tata currently dominates the Indian market. But now companies like Mahindra are also increasing their steps rapidly. The company’s CEO said on Friday that Mahindra aims to lead the sale of electric sport-utility vehicles (SUVs) in the country. Significantly, Mahindra has also announced the formation of its new EV subsidiary company. The company has received an investment of Rs 1,925 crore from British International Investment (BII).

He said it is not just an investment. it’s a start. Going forward, we will also bring in more investors at higher valuations. The Mumbai based company sells several popular vehicles like Scorpio and Thar and is now aiming to dominate the electric vehicle market in the country.

A few days back, the company had detailed its plans to foray into the electric segment with the launch of the eXUV400. The vehicle is expected to be launched in September 2022. Mahindra is planning to invest more than $1 billion to strengthen itself in electric vehicles.

Recently, a statement of Mahindra Chairman Anand Mahindra has also come to the fore. A Twitter user had asked Anand Mahindra what he thought about Tata vehicles. In response, Anand Mahindra said that having such a rival gives us the motivation to do better. He wrote that it is a privilege to have strong competitors like Tata Motors. He constantly reinvents himself, which motivates us to do better.

Mahindra’s first electric SUV will be the eXUV400. It will compete directly with the Tata Nexon EV. Its sales are expected to start in the first quarter of next year. It can come with a range of 300 kms, in comparison to the Nexon EV with a certified range of 312 kms. Mahindra is planning to launch 4 more electric SUVs by 2026.
