Will it be possible to get rid of the coronavirus forever

Anatoly Altstein, Professor of Virology, Chief Researcher at the Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, described a possible scenario for the development of a coronavirus pandemic in Russia.

The doctor believes that an active campaign to vaccinate the population in 2022 will seriously slow down the spread of COVID-19, and the epidemic will already become seasonal.

But in general, the virus will remain with us forever. Strains may appear, but most likely they will be less pathogenic and not very different from the delta.

The same position is shared by Vadim Pokrovsky, Deputy Director of the Federal Budgetary Scientific Institution of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He believes that soon we will be able to defeat the pandemic, although he does not deny the emergence of new strains.

In September of this year, Altstein warned of an increase in the number of people infected with coronavirus in Russia. All due to the fact that citizens are reluctant to vaccinate and poorly comply with sanitary and epidemiological standards. In addition, he noted, an increased chance of getting sick is the norm for the cold seasons.
