Glazyev sent a letter with a proposal to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. He instructed to work out the proposal to Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov.
Glazyev relies on the theory of the Soviet professor-geologist Vladimir Larin about the “hydride structure of the Earth” and hydrogen degassing. The scientist assumed that the hydrogen in the planet’s core is released to the surface, where it can be mined in huge quantities.
At the same time, the representative of the Ministry of Natural Resources Marina Evseeva noted that no natural accumulations of hydrogen have been found in the bowels of the earth. But the chief geologist of FBU “Rosgeolekspertiza”, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences Vladimir Polevanov said that it is possible to extract natural hydrogen. Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences Alexander Lobusev (Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas) disagrees with him. He says that it is impossible to extract pure hydrogen from the bowels of the Earth, since it is instantly oxidized.
It should be noted that Professor Larin’s hypothesis is considered unproven, and in Wikipedia it is called marginal. Therefore, it cannot yet be argued that in Russia it is possible to extract hydrogen directly from the bowels of the Earth.
