The authors of the American edition of Task & Purpose believe that the constant presence of warships of the US Navy at sea during combat duty does not provide time for routine maintenance. It is noted that now a number of vessels are in dire need of maintenance.
So, corrosion was noticed on the destroyers USS Curtis Wilbur USS James E. Williams and the landing ship USS Fort McHenry. This, as the authors point out, is clear evidence that the work is going to wear out. Recently, the destroyers USS Arleigh Burke and USS Zumwalt have also found corrosion.
Experts said that 77 of the 295 US Navy warships are currently in deployment. So the Navy is trying to hold back opponents in all directions. But such containment is achieved at the cost of combat readiness, experts conclude.
