Analysts at Omdia Research concluded that smartphone manufacturers are abandoning the number of camera modules in favor of improving the quality of their work. Take Xiaomi smartphones for example. Their Redmi Note 9 Pro, released in May 2020, had four rear cameras, and already in November 2021, there were only three of them left in the Redmi Note 11 Pro. According to experts, the use of four cameras in a smartphone was more of an “arms race” than a technical necessity.
Leading analyst of Mobile Research Group Eldar Murtazin noted that now there is a refusal of charging, more and more devices, even mid-range ones, will go without them, as well as the deterioration of screens from AMOLED to IPS.
Evgeny Kharitonov, chief editor of Ferra.ru noted that Samsung not only cut the number of cameras in new models, but also resorted to more noticeable simplifications in order to fit new smartphones into the budget of the old ones.
