Why people with heart disease should not eat fatty and sweet foods

According to the expert, fatty dairy products and products of deep processing are also dangerous for “cores”. Despite the perceived benefits for the heart, sweets should either be eliminated from the diet, or at least limit their use to a minimum. It is important to control the consumption of foods with added sugar: preserves, honey, jams, syrups and concentrated juices.

Konovalova noted that according to the WHO recommendations, the diet should contain no more than 10% of saturated fat from the total daily caloric value of food, and trans fats – up to 1%. For products with added sugar – no more than 5-10%.

At the same time, the specialist advised to consume at least 500 g of vegetables and fruits per day, whole grains, low-fat dairy products, meat and poultry, nuts, seeds, as well as fish and seafood at least two or three times a week. And, of course, it is necessary to control the level of salt – there should be no more than 5 grams per day.
