Why humanity believes in conspiracy theories

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and the US Capitol riot, conspiracy theories have become more popular among the population of different countries than ever. According to scientists, there are several factors that can explain this phenomenon.

For example, a study by the Free University of Amsterdam (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) showed that people inclined to believe conspiracy theories are more likely to see illusory images in the surrounding objects (for example, clouds in the form of a face). Because of this, they are more likely to see connections between random events.

However, conspiracy theorists are also known to be less likely to receive the necessary education or develop critical thinking in order to see logical inconsistencies or false facts in their judgments.
