Why do people open emails from scammers

The use of feelings of irritation accounts for more than 50 percent of cybercriminals’ scams, followed by inattention and curiosity – 43.3 and 38.6 percent, respectively.

Irritation is caused by letters that “inform” the victim about an allegedly connected unnecessary service.

Messages aimed at inattention are information that a person does not pay so much attention to, this may be a notification about the need to change the password.

Using curiosity, scammers insist on checking the hot water shutdown schedule on a resource that may look like a “state portal”.

The most unpopular technique was the use of a sense of fear, with which the fraudsters managed to “catch” a little more than 20 percent of their victims, threatening with non-existent compromising evidence.
