Why can a smartphone be hacked even with 100% protected Android or iOS?

As for the baseband processor, it is designed to carry out functions related to calls, SMS-messages, mobility management (thanks to this, the cellular network does not lose the smartphone when it moves from one cell tower to another). This processor is a closed system with a proprietary operating system with no publicly available development tools. Accordingly, cracking it requires deeper knowledge (compared to cracking the application processor), as well as more sophisticated equipment.

Finally, the SIM card. It is an ISO / IEC format smart card with software extensions. Most of these “sims” are created by Gemalto and Oberthur. Moreover, SIM cards can perform many actions: manage call forwarding and other services, send SMS messages, start USSD sessions. It is important that the user without special equipment is not able to learn about the activities of his SIM-card.
