Where did dark matter come from – a new hypothesis

The essence of the idea is as follows: sometime at an early stage in the development of the Universe, dark matter particles were able to create more dark matter particles from ordinary ones. This could explain such a skew in the composition of the universe.

The new study builds on earlier assumptions about the state of the universe, when ordinary matter in the form of plasma produced the first particles of dark matter. These initial particles could have the ability to further transform particles of ordinary matter. This would lead to an exponential increase in the density of dark matter.

In general, the study suggests this scenario: at first, the amount of dark matter grew rapidly as the universe expanded. Then the expansion slowed down, and the growth of dark matter slowed down.
