No firm date has been given by the government yet when this service will be started, but this service will be started in the financial year 2022-2023.
Minister replied in Rajya Sabha
Minister of State V Muraleedharan, while answering the question asked in the Rajya Sabha regarding e-passport, has said that the facility of e-passport will be started in the financial year 2022-2023. The government has also said that the e-passport will have an embedded radio frequency identification chip and antenna. With the help of these two electronics will be manufactured. The purpose of the government behind the introduction of this passport is that now the fraud related to passport can be completely stopped. It will be different from the existing passport in many ways. So let’s know the special things of this passport.
Special features of e-passport-
In view, the e-passport will be similar to the passport used now, but to prevent any kind of fraud, new technology will be used in it. It will be fitted with an embedded radio frequency identification chip. By which the real and fake passport will be easily identified. In this passport, important information like the name of the citizen, date of birth, address etc. will be recorded. Along with this, the travel details of the traveler will also be present in the chip of this passport. All the details of the passenger will be known only on a single screening. Along with this, there will be no change in the way of applying for this passport. As before, the government is preparing to keep the process of making passport.
E-passport was announced in the budget speech
