Whatsapp’s Biggest New Feature Gets 2-Step Verification on the Desktop and Web Apps

WhatsApp is preparing the ability to transfer chat history from Android phones to iOS, and is also working to improve its desktop and web versions with another major update.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will implement two-step verification in its desktop app and web version. Since many people rely on this app for work and communication, part hackers are trying to scam WhatsApp users. As a result, the number of people losing their account or being scammed is on the rise.

Since WhatsApp is still preparing support for multiple devices at the same time, users will be able to access the application from a PC without having to have a phone nearby. Adding two-step verification will help users get more protection.

When registering your WhatsApp account after entering the 6-digit code, you will need a personal PIN code to log into your account. WhatsApp wants to make it easier to manage two-step verification everywhere, so they are working on bringing this feature to the web client and desktop client in a future update. You will have the option to enable or disable two-step verification in the web/desktop client. This is very important, especially when you lose your phone and don’t remember your PIN.

At the moment, it’s unclear when this feature will be available to public beta testers as it’s still in its early stages of development.
