WhatsApp self-chat feature: WhatsApp has started rolling out a new feature on its platform that allows users to message themselves. Earlier this month, reports pointed to the Meta-owned messaging app working on a feature that would let users text themselves. Now, according to a report by WABetaInfo, the company has started rolling out the feature to select users who are using the company’s beta app on Android and iOS. The report states that the WhatsApp Message Yourself feature is available on WhatsApp beta for iOS version 22.23.74 and WhatsApp beta for Android version 184.108.40.206.
Message yourself like this
Screenshots of the new feature shared by the blogsite show that with this update, users will see it when users tap on a contact, with a gray ‘Message yourself’ label below the user’s name in the top menu. A WhatsApp chat will appear alongside. Furthermore, the report states that messages users share with themselves will be visible on their linked devices and will be end-to-end encrypted (E2EE), just like all other chats on the platform.
Why is Message yourself feature necessary?
Now, one may argue that what is the need of sending a message to oneself? So the answer is, sometimes it happens that if you want to write a thought or note somewhere quickly, then this message can be useful. It can also be useful when you want to share files and folders from one device to another.
