WhatsApp New Feature: In the last few days, WhatsApp changed the interface of the Contacts section for Android users who were using the beta version of the app. The Facebook-owned platform has split the section into two – frequently contacted and recent chats. As the name suggests, the Frequent Contacts part shows the users you contact frequently and the Recent Chats part shows the users you were recently contacted by. According to a report, WhatsApp is reporting the old contact list.
The platform has started rolling out a new update for Android users through the Google Play beta program. This update brings the version of the app to 184.108.40.206. Reports suggest that WhatsApp is now restoring the old interface after facing backlash from users. The platform has started rolling out the old contact list interface again, but it may take some time before the update is available to everyone.
WhatsApp has also started changing the design of the app window seen during a group voice call for beta users on the Android platform. References to the design change were already found in the last beta update for iOS and Android users. The company is also adding voice waveforms for all participants during group calls. Voice waveforms are similar to those seen in voice notes.
According to a report, the changes in the design are minimal but they give a fresh look to the page. The report further states that the new design is currently only available to certain Android beta testers, but the platform will be rolling it out to more users in the coming weeks. Since this feature is only available in the beta version, it is not yet known when the platform will release it publicly.
