New Delhi. Instant messaging app WhatsApp has banned more than 22 lakh accounts. The app has banned these accounts on the basis of complaints received from users. This action of the company has been done under the new IT Rules, 2021. According to a report, the app had received 632 complaints in India in the month of June, out of which action has been taken on 64 complaints.

Actually, the company has submitted its monthly report under the new IT Rule 2021. This report has revealed that Meta-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp has banned more than 22 lakh WhatsApp accounts under the new IT Rules 2021. According to the report, the app had received 632 complaints in the month of June in India, out of which they have taken action on 64 complaints.

19 lakh accounts were banned
By the way, this is not the first time that WhatsApp has banned such a large number of accounts. Earlier, the company had banned more than 19 lakh Indian accounts in the month of May. Let us inform that in the month of May, 528 complaints were reported, out of which the app took action on 24 complaints.

The app has already taken action
Earlier in April also, WhatsApp had banned the accounts of 16.6 lakh Indians. At that time the company had received 528 Grievance Reports and out of this, it took action in 24 cases. At the same time, in April, WhatsApp received 844 Grievance reports, out of which it took action in 123 cases. At the same time, in March also, the platform had banned more than 18 lakh such accounts in the country. In March, WhatsApp received 597 complaints and the company took action on 74 accounts.

Why are accounts banned?
According to the company, if someone shares unlawful, obscene, defamatory, threatening, intimidating or harassing, hate or provocative content on his WhatsApp, then his account is banned. Apart from this, even if a user violates the company’s terms and conditions, his account can be banned.

The company says that it is continuously working on making end-to-end encrypted messaging service safe and secure for the safety and security of users. For this, the company is continuously investing in Artificial Intelligence technology, data scientists and experts etc.

What is IT Rule 2021?
Under the new IT rules, digital platforms with more than 5 million users have to publish a report every month, in which the company gives information about complaints received from users and the company’s action.
