WhatsApp banned more than 37 lakh Indian accounts in November!

WhatsApp has taken action and banned about 38 lakh accounts to keep the platform safe. The instant messaging platform has given this information in an official post. Of these, around 10 lakh were accounts that were flagged by Indian users. Taking all these actions, messaging platforms have banned them to protect users from spam, phishing etc. attacks. In November, 946 complaints were received from users on the platform, in which an appeal was made to ban 830 accounts.

In the month before November i.e. in October also, the company had banned more than 23 lakh accounts. During this WhatsApp A total of 23.24 lakh accounts were banned. Of the 37.16 lakh accounts banned in November, 9.9 lakh accounts were already banned by the company before users flagged them. Similarly, in October too, the company banned 8.11 lakh accounts even before users flagged them.

Under the IT Rules 2021, WhatsApp announced the November 2021 Report I have said that it has banned 37 lakh 16 thousand accounts between 1 November 2022 and 30 November 2022. Of these, 9.9 lakh accounts were banned even before users reported them. Indian account is identified by +91 number.

Last year, the government implemented new IT rules, according to which digital platforms with more than 50 lakh users will have to submit their public compliance report every month. In this, the platform will have to tell how many complaints it has received in a month and what action has been taken for the same. Things like hate speech, misinformation and fake news on major social media platforms have increased a lot in the past due to which the platforms are now taking strict measures against users spreading such rumors and misinformation. WhatsApp received more complaints from users against accounts in November than in October. In November, 946 complaints were received on the platform, in which an appeal was made to ban 830 accounts. At the same time, the platform took action against 73 accounts in it.
