What was the ancestor of dinosaurs and birds

It is impossible to reliably find out if the relatives of the dinosaurs were brightly colored. Scientists can only analyze modern animals. They studied 4,022 species of birds, crocodiles and turtles. They also analyzed data on the color of the skin and tissues of the common ancestor of modern birds and dinosaurs – the ancient archosaurus.

Scientists said that with a 50 percent probability, this ancestor had bright colors in some areas of the skin. This could touch the skin, and the beak, and the scales. But the probability that feathers or claws could be bright is zero.
