A Motorinvest plant has been launched near Lipetsk, from which electric vehicles come out under the new Russian brand Evolute, and the assembly of the i-JOY crossover should start this month. The resource “Chinese cars” published the first review of new items.
Key technical details about the car have been known since mid-summer. Lipetsk i-JOY is a converted Chinese Seres 3 or DFSK Glory E3. The model is manufactured by Dongfeng. She is only three years old, so we can say that we got a fresh car. Evolute is equipped with a single electric motor with a capacity of 176 hp, has only front-wheel drive and drives up to 405 km on a fully charged traction battery with a capacity of 53 kWh.
In the cabin, as Chinese Automobiles write, some absurdities are immediately noticeable. The short seat cushion, flat back, soft side support bolsters and lack of lumbar support adjustment are disappointing. The steering wheel is only tilt adjustable. With no second-plane adjustment and not the most comfortable seat, some drivers will have trouble finding the optimal position.
Heating is a severe minimum: only the front seats. But the “empty” media system upset me even more. The phone connects only via Bluetooth, you can’t turn on online navigation in any way. However, a media system with all the necessary applications has already been announced for the i-PRO sedan. It is possible that she will also appear in i-JOY.
In general, the salon left a good impression. Ergonomics without obvious failures, visibility is acceptable, the rear passengers are spacious, everything looks modern, the materials are not rich, but decent. However, rear passengers may complain about the small opening angle of the door and the very wide sill.
It is quiet on the go, the suspension is dense and energy-intensive. Three expansion tanks are striking under the hood. One circuit is responsible for cooling and heating the battery, the second – for the inverter and the electric motor. The third tank refers to the interior heating system. For this, antifreeze can be heated with electricity (it will take away some of the energy from the traction battery), but it is better to order a factory option – an autonomous diesel heater.
In urban mode, up to 60 km/h, i-JOY creates the illusion of a very dynamic car. At the same time, in reality, it takes about 10 seconds to accelerate to 100 km / h. On the track, it is better not to go beyond 100-110 km / h, because the battery charge begins to deplete noticeably more actively. In summer, in the urban cycle with air conditioning, the Evolute i-JOY should travel 300-330 km.
Charging may be a problem. Each model of the charging station is individual. It may happen that the electric car will not receive electricity from it. The problem can be solved by resetting the terminal from the 12-volt battery under the hood. Or you may need to update the software of the machine itself. As the representatives of the brand said, they adapt the Evolute firmware to all chargers found in Russia.
You can also charge the car from a household network, an appropriate adapter is provided. Only the power depends on the specific point and is 1.5-3 kW per hour. That is, it will take from 10 to 15 hours to replenish half the capacity.
Evolute i-JOY will be offered in a single configuration for 3.5 million rubles. It is subject to a discount under the state program to stimulate demand in the amount of 925 thousand. And 2.5 million rubles is the current cost of Creta or Seltos.
