What Happens to Your Liver When You Drink

The liver produces a special substance called acetaldehyde, which causes a hangover after drinking alcoholic beverages. Also, thanks to the liver, 95 percent of alcohol is excreted from the body and it does not affect the body itself so destructively.

Danish scientists have found out how immediately after drinking alcohol it affects the liver. The study involved 39 people.

After measuring the amount of alcohol in the liver, experts found that its concentration is two to three times higher here compared to the rest of the body. This is explained by the fact that after consumption alcohol is absorbed from the stomach and the beginning of the small intestine, and then enters the bloodstream. The blood flows to the liver.
