What common house sounds always scare dogs

Employees at the University of California at Davis found that the dog can be frightened not only by the sounds of fireworks, but also by the operation of the microwave. The results of this study are published in Frontiers in Veterinary Science.

In a study, intermittent high-frequency sounds (such as a low-battery warning from a smoke detector) were more likely to cause anxiety in dogs than low-frequency continuous noise. This is due to the fact that dogs have a wider hearing range than humans, and they can perceive some sounds painfully.
