New Delhi. Unified Mobile Application (Umang) is an all-in-one app launched by the government of the country to encourage more and more people to adopt digital payment transactions in the country. UMANG App It is an integrated app that can be used to avail multiple Indian e-government services such as filing income tax, Aadhaar and provident fund enquiry, booking of gas cylinders, passport service and others. The platform gives people access to over 100 services from both the state and central government. With UMANG, the government aims to promote e-governance and adopt a new-age policy as part of the Digital India initiative. The app can be downloaded for free on Android, iOS and Windows Phone. UMANG has been developed by the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. This e-governance application can also be used through other channels like web, SMS or IVR.
What is Umang App: UMANG App is a mobile application that can be used to access government services at the click of a button through the users smartphone.
How to Download UMANG App: To download Umang app on Android phone, go to Google Play Store and type Umang. Click on Install and wait for the app to download. Proceed to launch the app and register for the service. For Apple users, the app can be installed from the Apple App Store.
How to use Umang App:
1: Download UMANG App from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
2: Create your ‘Profile’ by providing personal details such as name, mobile number, age. You can also upload profile photo.
3: You can also link your Aadhaar number with the app and other social media accounts.
4: After creating the profile, you can login and go to the ‘Sort and Filter’ section to browse by service and category.
5: To see the specific service, go to the search option.
How to Register/Set up Umang App using Mobile Number
1: Download the Umang app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
2: Launch the app and click on ‘New Users’.
3: On the ‘Registration’ screen, key in the mobile number and click on ‘Proceed’. Your mobile number verification screen will appear.
4: Now, enter the OTP and proceed to set the MPIN. Type MPIN and click on ‘Confirm MPIN’.
5: Select ‘Proceed’ and answer the security questions and continue.
6: Now enter the Aadhaar number if you want to link it or click on ‘Skip’ to go to the ‘Profile Information Screen’ where you have to enter the details of the profile and click on ‘Save and Proceed’.
7: This completes the registration process and you will be redirected to the home screen again
If a user chooses to proceed with Aadhaar Verification on UMANG:
- This will allow the user to login to the app using the Aadhaar number.
- The information will be used for e-KYC purposes
- While creating the profile, the Aadhaar information is automatically copied to the UMANG profile.
- One thing to note is that if you enter your email id during profile creation then an email will be sent for verification to the given email address. The email id will be visible only when users verify it.
