Volvo Bus India on Wednesday launched the next generation of commercial buses based on the Volvo 9600 platform. The company has introduced a range of sleeper and seater buses on this platform which includes buses of 15 meter and 13.5 meter length. European design technology has been used in these Volvo buses. In the new generation of buses, Volvo 9600 and Volvo DK8 buses have been introduced.
The 15 meter size seater coach bus has a seating capacity of 55 passengers while the 13.5 meter spoiler coach bus can carry 40 passengers. Apart from this, luggage space of 15 cubic meters and 9.2 cubic meters has been given in these buses respectively.
Vinod Agarwal, MD-CEO, Volvo Bus India, said that the company aims to transform the future of India’s public transport sector. The company is proud to introduce the new generation Volvo 9600 buses. The company is introducing new benchmarks of luxury, comfort and safety in the field of bus transport in India.
The i-Shift automated manual gearbox has been used in the Volvo 9600 buses. For safety, these buses have been provided with modern safety technology like Antilock Braking System, Electronic Stability Program, and Hill Start Assist. These buses can generate a maximum power of 350 Bhp and a maximum torque of 1350 Nm.
The company claims that along with power, these buses are also great in mileage. Volvo said in an official statement that the ‘9600 Platform’ is internationally recognized and has won several awards. The company is producing these buses in India itself under the Make-in-India campaign. With this the company is cutting down on the cost as well as delivering the buses on time.
Like the old models of the 9600 platform, the new buses are being manufactured at the Hoskote Plant (Karnataka). The company has been manufacturing premium buses in this plant since 2008. Talking about other features of the buses, they have been provided with adjustable headrests and air suspension so that passengers can enjoy a comfortable journey on any kind of road.
Let us tell you that the passenger car division of Volvo recently launched the Volvo XC40 Recharge electric car in India. This electric SUV has been introduced at an ex-showroom price of Rs 55.90 lakh. The company has also booked 150 units of this SUV.
The Volvo XC40 Recharge is being locally assembled in India itself. The Volvo XC40 is built on a platform that can house both an IC engine and an electric powertrain. Two 150 kW electric motors have been installed in the Volvo XC40. Its electric motor generates 408 bhp power and 660 newton meter torque.
