Volkswagen introduced ID.4 electric car, expected to launch this year

Volkswagen ID.4: Volkswagen has announced to enter the electric car space in India by the end of this year. The company has introduced electric SUV Volkswagen ID.4 for the Indian market.

Volkswagen ID.4 Debut: Volkswagen has announced to enter the electric car space in India by the end of this year. The company has introduced the electric SUV Volkswagen ID.4 for the Indian market, which is already being sold in the international market. It is to be launched in the last quarter of 2024. It will be brought as a completely ready car (CBU).

It is expected that the Volkswagen ID.4 electric SUV will be launched in its highest configuration. Talking about size, this electric SUV is 4,584 mm long, 1,852 mm wide and 1,612 mm high. Its wheelbase is 2,766mm. Its boot capacity is 543 litres, while ground clearance is 210mm. 

In the global market, the Volkswagen ID.4 comes with multiple powertrain options, including single motor rear-wheel drive and dual motor all-wheel drive. The company is expected to launch the GTX variant of the electric SUV, which comes with a dual motor all-wheel drive setup. 

In this variant, one electric motor will be installed on the front axle and one electric motor will be installed on the rear axle. Its combined output can be 299hp and 460Nm. The car may have a 77kWh battery pack, which can give a range of up to 480km on a single full charge.

The lower-spec rear-wheel-drive version generates 204hp and 310Nm. It also has a 77kWh battery pack but it can give 520km driving range on a single charge. The battery can be charged from 11kW AC supply. There is also support for 125kW DC charger, through which 320km driving range can be achieved by charging the battery in 30 minutes.

The VW ID.4 electric SUV will come as a CBU model, its price is expected to be between Rs 50 lakh and Rs 60 lakh. It will compete with cars like Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Volvo XC40 Recharge.
