Volkswagen has increased the range of 2022 ID.4 electric vehicles, although the battery and engines remain the same

Volkswagen has released updated range figures for its 2022 ID.4 EVs, as estimated by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This year has not been in vain for the automaker: in almost all versions of the electric vehicle, the range has increased with the same batteries by 82 kWh and the same electric motors.

The updated rear-wheel drive ID.4 Pro has an EPA range of 448 km, up 32 km from the 2021 model. For the rear-wheel-drive Pro S, that figure is now 428.8 km, up 28.8 km from last year’s variant. The all-wheel-drive Volkswagen ID.4 models also increased range, but the increase was not so significant: the 2022 AWD Pro is able to travel up to 401.6 km on a full battery charge, and for the AWD Pro S it is 392 km. Compared to the corresponding 2021 models, ranges have increased by 3.2 and 8 km respectively.

However, it wasn’t just the range metrics alone: all 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 electric vehicles received support for fast charging at 135 kW – last year’s models had only 125 kW. For buyers of new models in the United States, the automaker offered a nice bonus: an unlimited number of free 30-minute fast charging sessions at the Electrify America network of stations for three years. However, all 2022 Volkswagen ID.4s are up $765: the RWD Pro starts at $40,760, the Pro S starts at $45,260, the AWD Pro starts at $44,440, and the AWD Pro S starts at $48,940.
