Vietnam, Denmark share experiences in building sustainable cities

The event, entitled “Nordic sustainable cities”, was part of activities to mark the 50th anniversary of Vietnam – Denmark diplomatic ties.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the exhibition was held both in direct and virtual forms with a limited number of participants and speakers from Copenhagen (Denmark), Tokyo (Japan), Singapore and Vietnam.

Following the opening ceremony of the exhibition, a seminar was held for experts, architectures, urban planners, lecturers and students from Denmark and Vietnam to share their experiences and knowledges about building sustainable cities.

A book titled “How to Study Public Life” by Professor Jan Gehl and Dr. Birgitte B. Svarre and translated by Dr. To Kien was introduced at the seminar, highlighting the historical process of studying urban life as well as the essential methods and tools to represent urban life as an important aspect of planning.

Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Kim Højlund Christensen said Danish Embassy and its Vietnamese partners have worked closely together in building sustainable and livable urban areas and boosting exchanges of knowledges and experiences among experts from the two countries in issues related to create better cities for people to live in.

He expressed his hope that through the exhibition and seminar, the stories made by Denmark authorities to make Copenhagen and other Danish cities the green and most livable cities in the world will inspire Vietnamese partners and friends.

The exhibition will last until December 19 and takes place via the website nordiccities.ashui.com.
