Vehicle Retail July 2022: Decrease in retail of two wheeler, passenger vehicle, increase in only three wheeler

Passenger Vehicle Segment

In July 2022, 2,50,972 units have been retailed in the Passenger Vehicle segment, registering a decline of 4.66% as against 2,63,238 units in July 2021. At the same time, an increase of 56.18% has been registered against 1,60,698 units in July 2020 and 19.07% increase as compared to 2,10,775 units in July 2019. This shows that this segment has come down to pre-Covid level.

The two wheeler segment has been retailed at 10,09,574 units in July 2022, registering a decline of 10.92% as against 11,33,344 units in July 2021. At the same time, there has been an increase of 13.70% against 8,87,942 units in July 2020 and a decline of 27.86% as compared to 13,99,532 units in July 2019. Still the two wheeler segment continues to be the most affected.

In July 2022, 50,349 units have been retailed in the three wheeler segment, registering a growth of 80.41% as against 27,908 units in July 2021. On the other hand, there has been an increase of 230.33% against 15,242 units in July 2020 and a decline of 14.59% as against 58,951 units in July 2019. This segment is growing rapidly, this segment is making a comeback very fast.

The tractor segment has retailed 59,573 units in July 2022, registering a decline of 27.72% as compared to 82,419 units in July 2021. On the other hand, there has been a decline of 22.90% against 77,272 units in July 2020 and an increase of 7.20% against 55,571 units in July 2019. There is a big decrease in this compared to last year.

66,459 units have been retailed in the Commercial Vehicles segment in July 2022, registering a growth of 27.32% as against 52,197 units in July 2021. At the same time, there has been an increase of 238.77% against 19,618 units in July 2020 and a decline of 4.33% as compared to 69,468 units in July 2019. Sales have improved a bit this year.

14,36,927 units have been retailed in July 2022, a decline of 7.84% as against 15,59,106 units in July 2021. At the same time, an increase of 23.79% has been registered against 11,60,772 units of July 2020 and a decline of 19.92% as compared to 17,94,297 units of July 2019. Vehicle retail has still not reached the pre-Covid level.
