US warns North Korea against cyber attacks on blockchain firms

The US has said in a cyber security advisory that cyber attacks from North Korea could pose a threat to blockchain and crypto firms. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the US Treasury together with the Cyber ​​Security and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) have issued a statement regarding this. In the report prepared by CISA, North Korea has been blamed for such cyber attacks. Along with this, North Korea has also been warned against such activities.

CISA has described many cyber groups of North Korea as a threat in the report. This includes BlueNoroff and Stardust Chollima. Earlier, US authorities had blamed the South Korean hacking group Lazarus for a major cyber attack on the Ronin Network of the Axie Infinity game. The FBI had said that the Lazarus Group was behind this hack. The Treasury Department has banned the address that received the stolen funds. North Korea’s Intelligence Bureau controls the Lazarus hacking group. About $615 million worth of cryptocurrency was stolen in this hack.

This hacking group has been accused of ransomware attacks, hacking of international banks and customer accounts. The US has asked the UN Security Council to blacklist the Lazarus Group and confiscate its assets. Cybercriminals hacked blockchains last year to steal more than $1.3 billion. Cybercriminals are targeting it due to the increasing use of cryptocurrencies and blockchain. In recent months, there have been many such cases in which firms and individuals have suffered huge losses in such cyber attacks. Some of these cases have happened with US firms belonging to the crypto segment.
