US sentenced Russian hacker to four years in prison

According to the indictment, Koshkin was initially threatened with 15 years in prison, but for some reason the Russian was reduced this term. He acted together with Pyotr Levashov, known on the web as the “king of spam”. Levashov is accused of running the Kelihos botnet network for 20 years, with the help of which cybercriminals steal personal data of users around the world.

According to David Sodeberg, the FBI agent who led the case, the hackers “worked to bypass our most basic cybersecurity systems in order to spread malware on a global scale.”
