Chef robot Alfred was developed by Boston-based startup Dexai Robotics. The goal of the development is to reduce the amount of food waste, reduce the risk of microbial transmission and free up human hands for other activities.
Alfred’s work was featured in the photo. He filled bowls with salad ingredients. The robotic arm is expected to free up time for personnel to focus on other important tasks, such as preparing orders for aircraft crews.
The robotic system is equipped with machine vision and ingredient recognition software. It takes the robot a few minutes to collect the salad. Serving ice cream, grilling a steak and making a Greek salad takes 15 minutes for Alfred.
