The US government has introduced new sanctions against 28 Chinese companies that limit the supply of semiconductors and equipment. These included Megvii Technology, Dahua Technology and IFLYTEK, Sunway Microelectronics, Yitu Technologies, as well as various research institutes, laboratories and the like.
Experts believe that these are the most extensive sanctions in the last 10 years. Previously, similar ones were introduced against Huawei. The introduction of these sanctions, according to media reports, indicates the desire of the United States to impose restrictions on advanced technologies in the field of computing and slow down China’s progress in this direction.
After the start of sanctions, Chinese companies will need to obtain a special license to access Western technology. This applies in particular to GPUs.
And earlier, the US authorities threatened to deprive those companies that would expand chip production in China with deprivation of funding. Thus, the American authorities clearly want to eliminate the main competitor in the high-tech market.
