The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has banned the import, sale and use of communications and video surveillance equipment manufactured by Chinese companies Huawei and ZTE.
“[Распоряжение] prohibits issuing permits for all telecommunications and video surveillance equipment manufactured by Huawei and ZTE“, the document says. The ban applies to the products of all subsidiaries and affiliates of both Chinese companies. The equipment of Chinese Hytera Communications, Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology and Dahua Technology is also banned.
The commission explained the decision taken by the need to block access to American communication networks to “hostile governments.” The United States also believes that the equipment of Chinese companies poses a threat to national security.
