Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov announced that the country has signed contracts for the purchase of various unmanned aerial vehicles in the amount of about $7.1 million (260.5 million hryvnias).
“We signed the first contracts for UAH 260.5 million for the purchase of drones. These are 78 Matrice multicopters equipped with artificial intelligence technology”, he wrote in the Telegram channel. According to him, the devices can record high-quality videos, focus on targets and remotely determine potential danger. We are talking, of course, about DJI drones.
In addition, Kyiv intends to purchase two ground systems for 20 Warmate kamikaze attack drones and 20 Fly Eye reconnaissance drones. Mikhail Fedorov called Fly Eye a “superstar”, but what kind of drone is it?
The Polish company WB Electronics SA is behind the creation of the “superstar”. The drone is a high-wing aircraft made of composite materials with a three-blade propeller and an electric motor. Take-off weight is 11 kg, length – 1.9 m, wingspan – 3.6 m. Flight duration depends on a number of other factors and ranges from 120 to 180 minutes.
Fly Eye is launched by hand. The drone has a top speed of 160 km/h. The maximum flight altitude is 4 km, the maximum flight range is 50 km. The drone is equipped with a video camera and a thermal imager.
